Signal 99 – 405 Fourth St – Solvay

On Sunday May 30, 2010 at 15:36hrs OC 911 dropped the box for 405 Fourth St while Solvay units were assigned to an appliance fire, report of smoke from the attic of a multi family dwelling. Car 1 (Woodworth) arrived on the appliance fire, which was a minor stove issue, and immediately redirected all Solvay Units to Fourth St. Car 3 (Bosco) arrived on 4th to a large 2 story balloon frame 4 family dwelling with smoke showing from the second floor. Engine 21 arrived establishing a water supply and went to work with a 1 ¾’’ line as Car 1 (Command) dropped a 99 moving Camillus into 2s and Fairmount Truck 1 to 1s. 22 brought in another supply and pulled the backup line. Taunton Ladder 5 arrived handling a search of the second floor. Truck 11 and Squad 12’s crews assisted in overhaul, Rescue 11 handled salvage, and Squad 21 handled various tasks. Fire was knocked down in 10 minutes Engine 21 and the investigators cleared about 2 hours and 45 minutes later. The initial assignment for this alarm showed Solvay unavailable for dispatch as all 9 units were assigned to the appliance fire, making the initial box Taunton Ladder 5, Rescue 3, Engine 6, Fairmount Engine 4 Truck 1, and Onondaga Hill Engine 3. As units cleared the appliance fire, Fairmount Engine 6 was assigned to the RIT, Truck 1 was moved to 1s, Taunton Engine 6 was cancelled, leaving the following units assigned: Solvay Cars 1, 3(ops), Engine 21, 22, Truck 11, Rescue 11, Squads 21 and 12, Taunton Car 1 (Rudiger), Ladder 5, Rescue 3, Fairmount Engine 6, Onondaga Hill Car 1 (Okoniewski) and Engine 3 Lakeside Car 2 (Kolakowski) and Engine 6, Camillus Car 2 (Grosbeck) and Engine 5 covering 2s.
