On Monday, May 28th 2012, Solvay, Taunton Ladder 5, and Fairmount Engine 6 (RIT) were alerted to a report of a garage fire by OCFC. Solvay Car 2 (Spaeth) checked out immediately when fire control advised the garage was in the basement of a single family dwelling. Car 2 arrived, reporting a single story ranch, with smoke from the basement level garage, calling a signal 98. Taunton Ladder 5 arrived shortly thereafter, assuming the first due engine responsibilities. Engine 22 arrived seconds later assuming second due engine responsibilities. Truck 11 positioned on the A/D corner, as the crew went to work on ventilation. Fairmount Engine 6 handled the RIT assignment. Engine 21 arrived, assisting companies, while Car 2 held with units on the scene, Rescue 11 returned to service. The fire was knocked down quickly and the family was able to stay in their home this memorial day. After extensive overhaul, units cleared in about 1 hour. Units assigned: Car 2 (Command), Car 3 (M Zingaro) (Operations), Engines 22, 21, 12, Truck 11, and Rescue 11, Fairmount Car 1 (Mallore) (Interior), Fairmount Engine 6, Taunton Car 2 (Spraker), Taunton Ladder 5.
