FIRST DUE SIGNAL 98 ON BOULDER ROAD

At approx. 2115 hrs. on Friday, Solvay, Taunton Ladder 5, and Fairmount Engine 6 (R.I.T.) were alerted to the 100 block of Boulder Rd. for a reported structure fire called in by the homeowner. Dispatch relayed that the homeowner was attempting to contain the fire and then updated that to being possibly one patient with burns. Solvay Truck 11 went en-route upon initial dispatch with a crew of six. Upon arrival Truck 11's officer did a scene size up reporting nothing showing from the exterior however an occupant met the crew at the road stating a one room fire on the second floor with one occupant still inside. Truck 11's crew went to work, Team one grabbing a can and making entry for the second occupant while Team 2 stretched an 1 3/4 inch line to the second floor. Solvay Engine 12, second arriving, picked up a plug at the corner of Boulder Rd. and Woods Rd. as Taunton Ladder 5 arrived and began first due truck work (ventilation). Truck 11's crew found a moderate smoke condition on the second floor and advised the second occupant to leave the structure. The fire was found in an office area and was quickly brought under control with a water can. Crews awaited fire investigators then proceeded with overhaul after investigation. All units returned to service by 0000 hrs. 11/23/13. Units Operating: Solvay Truck 11, Engine 12, Engine 22, Squad 21, Car 1, Car 3, Taunton Ladder 5, and Fairmount Engine 6.
