MULTIPLE SIGNAL 80s ON I-690 & RT 695

Around 1600 hours, Solvay Rescue was alerted to the first of a string of Signal 80s on the I-690 and Rt. 695 corridor due to snow, sleet, and ice. Rescue 11 and Engine 12 responded with two dedicated crews throughout the evening. At each motor vehicle collision, Rescue 11 assisted the ambulance, performed stabilization, and assessed the need for extrication. Engine 12 secured vehicle hazards. In total, Solvay responded to four signal 80s within a two hour period. Crews returned to quarters at approx. 1900 hours and handled several other medical related alarms in the first due. Solvay Fire Department’s daily operations would not be possible without the dedicated volunteers that give their time to ensure all emergency incidents are handled appropriately.
