Student Bunk-In Training 2018

This August was an extremely busy month for our department. In addition to the NYS Fair and our day to day operations, our department also welcomed our new bunk-in students for the Fall 2018 semester. In order to acclimate the students to our department and Onondaga County, every year we host a week long training known as bunk-in week.

The week consists of several days of intense training on topics including Engine Company Operations, Truck Company Operations, Firefighter Survival, Rapid Intervention Team Ops, Vehicle Extrication, Stabilization, and Rescue Ops.

The training was successful, as it has been in the past, and established a foundation of firefighting fundamentals for each student to build off of during their stay with our department. We are looking forward to another great semester with all of our bunk-ins. Special thanks to the DeWitt Fire District for not only providing equipment for the week but also participating in the training with us.

Welcome new Bunk-In Students: Adam Cossette and Bryant Mabee.

Returning Students: Phil Scarano, Kyle Fisher, and Nick Secreto
