FAIRMOUNT, N.Y. -- Onondaga County sheriff's deputies have identified the victim in Monday's fatal fire in Fairmount as a 42-year-old woman.

Firefighters found Judy Lyn McCue dead in an upstairs bedroom on the second floor of 13 Gordon Parkway, Apt. 13, at the Aaron Manor Townhouses in Fairmount, Onondaga County sheriff's spokesman Sgt. Jon Seeber said.

McCue lived in the apartment with Wendy Fitzgerald, 41, and Fitzgerald's 14-year-old son, Seeber said. Fitzgerald suffered minor smoke inhalation. She was taken to Upstate University Hospital's Community Campus for treatment. Fitzgerald's son was not injured, Seeber said.

The fire, reported at 4:07 a.m., started in apartment 13 -- where McCue, Fitzgerald and the boy lived, Seeber said.

"The apartment was equipped with a smoke detector," Seeber said in a news release.

Flames continued to spread and caused significant damage to their townhouse, as well as several neighbors' townhouses.

William Pringle, who lives in a townhouses across the courtyard, ran from townhouse to townhouse banging on neighbors' doors in the complex and screaming for people to wake up and get out, according to neighbor Janet Neil said. Neil said she heard Pringle scream for her to get out of her townhouse and she was able to escape before her townhouse filled with smoke.
