NEW RESCUE ORDERED

The order has been placed for a new Heavy Rescue to replace the current Rescue 11, which has served with the department for over 20 years. E-ONE won the bid and is currently building the new rig at their Hamburg, NY location. The new rescue is a change in design from what Solvay currently operates. The chassis will be a walk-in body that seats 4 personnel in the back with the driver and officer up front. The rig's design allows for optimal interface to the many dynamic types of alarms it will respond to while in service. The unit allows for maximum protection of its crew while operating at traffic incidents with both exterior sides of the apparatus mirrored for extrication. The unit will also be capable of providng R.I.T. for fires and carry many different types of equipment for technical rescue. This apparatus will increase the capabilities of the Solvay Fire Department allowing for a wider range of tools available to utilize on emergency incidents. The new rescue is expected to be delivered by the Fall of 2014 and placed into service by the end of the year.
