Early this afternoon the Solvay Fire Department was dispatched to an alarm sounding inside a residence in Westvale. Solvay Engine 12 responded and arrived to a one story home with nothing showing from the exterior. Upon investigation Engine 12's crew found the house was charged with smoke and immediately gained entry into the structure. Solvay Rescue 11 arrived and was advised to stretch an attack line into Side A of the structure. Engine 12 found a minor fire in the kitchen, declared a Signal 98, and held with units on scene. Engine 12 and Rescue 11 extinguished the fire and conducted ventilation operations to remove the smoke in the house. Units returned to service approximately 30 minutes after dispatch.
