GARBAGE TRUCK FIRE ON WEST GENESEE STREET

Late Monday afternoon Solvay fire was alerted to the scene of a reported vehicle fire near Westvale Plaza at the intersection of Fay Rd. and West Genesee St. Solvay Engine 22 responded and was advised the vehicle on fire was a garbage truck. Engine 22 arrived and found the engine compartment and cab of thje truck well involved. Engine 22 stretched the trash line from the front bumper and began to suppress the fire. Engine 22 also acquired a water supply. The fire was knocked down within five minutes of arrival and crews overhauled the truck. Units were ready for service by 1700 hours.
