RESCUE 11 & ENGINE 21 RESPOND TO RIDE ACCIDENT AT NYS FAIR

Geddes (WSYR-TV) – Troopers say one person was injured after two roller coaster cars crashed at the New York State Fair on Friday. State Police believe the injuries are minor. Initially, officials at the scene indicated that multiple people had suffered injuries. They say one of the Comet II roller coaster cars stopped, and the other did not. State Fair officials say the ride will remain closed until inspectors from the Department of Labor can do a full check. "What will be investigated is how the braking system works, what the operators were doing, and how well the ride is working," says Fair spokesperson Dave Bullard.
