ROLL-OVER WITH ONE TRAPPED | STATE FAIR BLVD. | GEDDES


At approx. 2200 hours, Solvay and Lakeside were dispatched to the area of State Fair Blvd. and Pumphouse Rd. for a reported MVC, roll-over. Rescue 11 with 6 volunteers checked out on dispatch with Engine 12 not far behind. Lakeside Car 1 arrived to find a single vehicle on its side with one occupant unconscious and trapped inside. As Rescue 11 was arriving Lakeside Car 1 advised that extrication would be required.

Rescue 11 was able to obtain prime positioning and the crew quickly went to work stabilizing the vehicle. Res-Q-Jacks were used with additional support provided by cribbing. Rescue 11’s crew then began to utilize the Amkus extrication equipment to remove the roof to gain access to the passenger compartment of the vehicle. Lakeside Rescue 5 was next arriving and assisted Rescue 11’s crew. Solvay Engine 12 arrived and stretched the 100 ft. bumper line and secured vehicle hazards. The extrication timer was stopped less than 10 minutes after dispatch. The occupant was then quickly rushed to the local trauma center via ambulance. All units returned to service by 2245 hours.
