Signal 99 | Wynnfield Rd. | Fairmount

At 1752 hours Fairmount, Taunton Ladder 5, and Solvay Engine 12 were dispatched to a reported residential fire in the Fairmount fire district. Onondaga 911 updated units that there were multiple callers some also stating there was a possible explosion. Units arrived to find a single family home with heavy structural damage well involved in fire. Taunton Ladder 5 arrived first and stretched an attack line to the front of the structure. Solvay Engine 12 arrived second due and stretched another line to the front of the structure to knock down the bulk of the fire. Solvay Engine 12 then moved to the back of the dwelling as Fairmount arrived and began to assist with suppression in the front of the house.

Solvay Engine 21 was added to the assignment once the alarm was upgraded to a Signal 99 (working fire). Engine 21 arrived and operated as the RIT team while all units operated on the scene. Due to structural damage, most operations were held exterior of the fire building. Units from Fairmount, Solvay, Taunton, and Onondaga Hill operated on the scene. The fire was brought under control within 25 minutes. All Solvay units returned to service by 1945 hours. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
