Truck Fire | Geddes Highway Dept. | Geddes


At 0130 hours, Solvay Fire was alerted to multiple reports of a truck on fire near a fuel pump on S. Terry Rd. in Westvale. Unsure of the exact location and type of truck on fire, Onondaga Communications started Taunton Fire to investigate parts of their first due for other reports stating the fire was at Onondaga and Terry Rd. Solvay Engine 21 was first to arrive on scene at the Geddes Highway Department to find a fully involved dump truck with several vehicle exposures and a building close by. Engine 21's crew stretched the bumper line and went to work suppressing the fire. Taunton Engine 6 arrived and picked up a hydrant for Engine 21. Solvay Engine 11 arrived and assisted Taunton Engine 6 with deploying a second line due to the size of the fire. The fire was contained to the vehicle of origin and all units returned to service by 0300 hours.
