Signal 98 | Milton Ave. | Solvay

Early Saturday evening Solvay Fire was dispatched to a reported fire at an industrial facility on Milton Ave. Onondaga Emergency Communications received a call reporting fire from the roof. Engine 22 responded an arrived to find fire from the roof of the facility. Engine 22's crew immediately began to evacuate the building while further investigating the fire. Engine 22's crew made their way to the roof to find that the fire had consumed an entire rooftop unit.

As additional crews arrived Taunton and Solvay Truck 11 assisted laddering the roof and beginning an extended stretch with the leader line. Engine 22 was able to shut off the gas to the unit and extinguish the fire with two water extinguishers. Crews checked for additional extension which was not found. The fire was contained to the rooftop unit. Crews operated on the scene for approximately 45 minutes before returning to service.
