Volunteering in the fire service is an excellent way to give back to your community. Many people like the feeling of helping someone else, especially in their greatest times of need, and this is what the fire service is all about. Whatever motivates you to volunteer, everyone gains self-satisfaction of being their best when other are dealing with what may be the worst times of their life.
When it comes to responding to emergencies, no one call is the same. Everytime the alarm goes off, we are faced with a different challenge to solve. We stand ready to respond 24/7, everyday of the year, in every weather condition possible. Anytime the alarm sounds, we respond. We train on many different types of emergencies ranging from structure fire, to heart attacks, to car accidents, to childbirths and any other imaginable emergency in between. Day or night we may have to use these skills, and very often under potentially stressful and emotional circumstances. Yet these are just some of the many factors that make this profession so personally rewarding.
