THIRD FIRST DUE FIRE IN TWO WEEKS | THIS TIME CHINA TOWNE FURNITURE

At approx. 0700 hrs. Friday morning the alarm came in reporting smoke in the building at 2320 Milton Avenue, China Towne Furniture Store. Solvay, Taunton Ladder 5, and Fairmount Engine 6 (R.I.T.) were assigned. Solvay Car 2 (Spaeth) and Solvay Truck 11 arrived moments after dispatch to find nothing showing from the exterior of the 100,000+ square feet facility. Truck 11's crew began investigating. Exterior units that were arriving noticed smoke coming from the eaves towards the C, D corner of the building upon arriving and relayed the information to operations. Truck 11's crew quickly made their way through the warehouse and down stairs to a basement where they found active fire conditions. Solvay Engine 22 arrived and brought in a plug off of Bridge Street and their crew stretched a hand line to an exterior door where they made entry to knock down the fire. Truck 11's crew kept the fire in check with a water can until the engine got into place. Taunton Ladder 5 brought in a secondary water supply off of Milton Ave to supply Truck 11. Crews made quick work of the fire and command held the Signal at a 98.

Once the fire was knocked down units operating began extensive ventilation operations of the facility. Units cleaned up and were put back into service at approx. 1030 hrs. Units Operating: Solvay Truck 11, Engine 22, Rescue 11, Squad 12, Taunton Ladder 5, Fairmount Engine 6 (R.I.T.)
