At 1349 hours on Saturday, Solvay Fire was dispatched to I-690 WB for a reported MVC. Units arrived to find a Town of Geddes Police cruiser that has been struck while on the scene of another traffic collision. This is a reminder to SLOW DOWN AND MOVE OVER when approaching any flashing lights or emergency vehicles on the roadway. Luckily nobody was injured in this very close call.
Around 1900 hours, Engine 11 responded to the Liverpool fire district for a reported garage on fire with a possible exposure problem. Liverpool units marked arrived with heavy fire showing from the garage. Engine 11 arrived to the conditions pictured below and went to work assisting Liverpool crews with extinguishing the fire. Engine 11 returned to service after operating on the scene for approximately an hour.
Tuesday afternoon, Solvay Engine 21 responded to Fairmount for a residential fire with reports of one person trapped. Units arrived to find fire showing from the front of the house. Solvay Truck 11 assisted in covering Fairmount's station while units operated on the scene. Due to quick work from Fairmount and mutual aid departments, the fire was brought under control within 10 minutes of the initial dispatch. Engine 21 responded to SB Route 695 for a reported vehicle on fire. Upon arrival, Engine 21 found a four door sedan with fire throughout the engine and passenger compartment. The front bumper line was stretched and the fire was extinguished. Engine 21 returned to service within 25 minutes of arrival.
